#23(WEEK9) Summing UP

Myspace Glitter Graphics - http://www.glittertextgraphics.com

Yeah as you said...it is not the end it is the beginning of a new me.I have learnt so much...There has been some hurdles, bit of humps and wee bit of pot holes...I would say...mmm.. it has been bit of a bumpy ride but I have reached my destination to start off on a new route... Before even beginning this programme, I was losing hope, always thinking if ever I will be able to do this but when i started! there I was very proud of mah self being able to tackle each excerise as it came...and I must say I had a very helpful friend who always helped and encouraged me to keep going when I encounted difficulty[Now this friend cannot hide anymore she's no other than MUMBAICHIC]Thanks heaps doll you have been an amazing support. It has been a huge learning curve for me...reason being that as I had said earlier in this programme..."You have to have good amount of time to explain yah self to be patient and to do each exercise with lot of enthusiasm...than u'll be successful. ...I am not stopping here,I will try and take out some time once a week to do something or the other from this programme to keep up to date..Thanks to Jayne Gutry and team of acl elgar.;)

#22(WEEK 9). ebooks

Once when we were in year 10 our form teacher told us that "a time will come when we wont be standing here infront teaching you children, it will be a little electronice device" ( I think she meant for computers...maybe or maybe not)...I think those days are not very far from now....I do believe or shall I say that I have to accept that TECHNOLOGY has moved this far where books are appearing on screen page by page....I wouldn't want to go there...for me its too much hard workI'd rather take mah hard copy and read in a healthy environment than to sit in the study straining mah eyes off....no no I actually dont say that it is bad.....yeah for materials which we think will get tatty because of the quality of paper it's printed on or a lot of man handling will damage it, I think ebook will give it a prolonged life,..oops what am I saying, not prolonged! I mean they will be IMMORTAL..aha!.......IT is also good for people doing research and travelling and wouldn't wanna overload their luggage wid books etc.You may call me old chick who wouldn't wanna acccept todays technology...but nah 98% of people out there still believe in books ...books i mean da actual hard copy. So yeah good news for da publishers out there...you wont run out of business ...cause there's heaps of people like me out there who will keep you going

#19 (Week 8). Discovering Web 2.0 tools

In fact I have not visited individual sites to make my judgement on who was better than the other...In actual fact, there has to be a winner somewhere ...but for me they all are ...It is like every individual has their own talent...so every site has their own features...it may have something more and less than the other..Don't you agree :))<

#18 (Week 8). Take a look at some online productivity (word processing, spreadsheet) tools.

Zoho Writer the word processor designed outstands the word and microsoft word. It is for the upcoming generation. It is built using another NEW Techology known as Ajax. It has so many formatting options, and also u can use the same keyboard shortcuts as with any other word processing application for accessing these functions. A time saver, it has a very friendly tool bar and the functions are just a click away...:(There's so much to it, that if I continue writing it will take a whole day ...so why not just get in there and see for your self...take mah word...u'll benefit from all its features ooops now I am angry just like this face....I tried so many times to publish my zoho article via publish options provided....but yeah it DID NOT work 4 me @ all ...ggggrrrrr how annoying!!!!

#17 (Week 7) Playing around with PBWiki

There!! I have added an entry to the favourite blogs page...since we are all in the learning pace "apologies to those who are whizz in this field...am talking about some of us"..The video clip was very helpful and yeah once I had finished my tour It didnot look that difficult.I wont stop here..I will go to checkout more every now and than ...ie..after I finish this blog and receive my MP3. I am so thankful to ACL 2.0 .This whole thing has taken me so far. :)))

#16(Week 7) Wikis

Wiki...mmmm...I would define it as an extra friendly encyclopedia, It is the largest and perhaps the most well known of these knowledge sharing tools. There is always a good and a bad side to such options...Lets look @ da Goody bit...
Simple syntax
Anyone can make changes
Free and open source options
Flexible and extensible And the Baddy bit is
Disorganized,Too open
Not enough control
Vandalism and spam
Other uses of Wiki's are Conference planning, Collaborative editing of documents,Meetings (posting agendas, discussion prior to meeting, etc.) Project space, there's more to it ...but less space for me ;))
Very useful for creating online communities ,particularly for libraries...with different groups of patron...it is kinda one stop shop for all age groups be it schools, social groups and many more, from which we can learn and share @ da same time. but yeah with caution as all information may not be so called "Correct".....the best part is that we can just go and correct it ...we donot need HTML. For us libraries,a very good communication tool.

#15 (Week 6) OnlLibrary 2.0 & WEB 2.0...

Library 2.0 is future for our libraries, but its not an overnight thing, it will surely take another generation to cope up with the pace of current and incoming technology . After enrolling with this course and actually working on the exercises made me realise how behind we are with the new tech .

#14(Week 6) Getting not so Technical with TECHNORATI

This is tough, too many choices, blogs, news, videos and on it goes...there are so many ways to search so many things, that my mind is zooming in and out of no where...i did a web 2.0 search and ended up with these many reasults 113,344 results for web 2.0,ooops yeah i didnot tag with any "tag" or "key word" in simple english...but I am pretty sure if we do, it will narrow down the search..it is helpful but than the whole game of TECHNORATI I would say is on tagging...you do it right you get it right....but nah not my cup of tea:-(

#13(Week 6) Tagging..bk mrkng in Del.icio.us

del.icio.us...it does sound very tempting aye yeah "DELICIOUS"..prior to this ACL 2.0 learning programme I would have thought it has something to do with taste or food.but nah its nothing like that but yeah you can tag yah yummy recipes as it says "Cookbook - Whenever you find a great recipe on a website, save it to del.icio.us. Tag it with the recipe's ingredients or style of cooking, and then when you're wondering what to make for dinner, you can use your saved bookmarks to help you remember the perfect recipe".for eg..if I had to cook a chicken dish I would tag it with chicken and it will bring up all chicken dishes I had chosen and put on del.icio.us...but than again this site is everyone's favourite ...someone some where has already done the work of finding...so we just contribute and share I would say

#12 (Week 5) Rollyo

Having so many features the RollBar lets you search whatever site you're on, or use any one of yah searchrolls from anywhere. we can also add sites to existing Searchrolls, and create new ones on the fly...but to be able to do this or say able to have yah own searchbar was,mmmm.....I would say, I found it a bit difficult...I spent an hour and was on the final steps when it came up with the ERROR message saying that "opening tag doesnot match yah closing tag" yeah yeah!! so I deleted the whole stuff and went home...now its all done ...and yeah my friend was there again to rescue me from this...finally S U C C E S S Fullll:))

Excercise 6,7& 8

I have checked out mashups and have also commented on RSS feeds.

The technology bit I learnt during ACL 2.0 is RSS. Personally I would add RSS feeds of the websites which I visit everyday for eg. NZ herald, Fiji Times. By adding RSS feeds to my blog I can read all the news of my interest at one place rather than visiting individual websites

Week 4 # 8 RSS

RSS is a family of web feed format used to publish frequently updated content such as blog entries(which I am doing right now), news headlines etc. Rss document is either known as “feed”, “web feed” or “channel” contains either a summary of content of an associated website or full text. RSS is an easy access to people’s favourite websites in an automated manner, that is easier than going to individual websites. So there we go…TIME SAVER!!!! :)))

Week 3 FLICKR

Exploring flicker was another new thing I learnt.
I went up to this amazing website, opened an account had a very good response (see below). I looked at all the various options, and am really thrilled. I will post some picturess soon and will recommend this site to my friends and families and also to people who would want to get rid of their chunky photo albums. It is also a very good site for people who have a passion for photography.

Welcome to Flickr!

Welcome to Flickr, Fruitsalad2007!You can use Flickr to:

Mashup…..if you really think about it is really is an organized mess . It is a web application that combines data and /or functionality from more than one source into an integrated webpage, It allows anyone to combine existing data from different websites in new ways. In the very beginning when all this was introduced to me ..God I thought how will I get through all this Rocket science, Now I know that these are relatively easy to design and can be accomplished without a huge amount of technical knowledge.

Social networking

I had a good look at these three sites and even managed to create an account in facebook, which I thought was cool, but than it is only cool when you get a chance to use it. That is, when you have a very important thing called "TIME". Technology has moved so far (it is even much further I know, it's only I haven't paddled fast enough to keep up with the race) that a time will come we won't have to travel around the world, cause everthing you need will be delivered on your door step. It does happen now but it will become more efficient...Dont you agree with me?. It is like we'll talk and see our granchildren growing on web cams :))

my favourite song

Funny isn't it

Now, my advice: DO NOT make the same mistake fellows, but i enjoyed and I know u'll laugh out loud as well!!!!!!!!

A man joined a big Multi National Company as a trainee.
On his first day, he dialed the kitchen and shouted into the phone:
"Get me a cup of coffee, quickly!"
The voice from the other side responded: "You fool, you've dialed the
wrong extension! Do you know who you're talking to ?"
"No" replied the trainee.
"It's the Managing Director of the company, "you idiot!"
The trainee shouted back: "And do you know who YOU are talking to,you
IDIOT ?"
"No!" replied the Managing Director angrily.
"Thank God!" replied the trainee and put down the phone.
